What We Believe

Statement of Faith

As a body of believers, we affirm the following beliefs.

Inspiration of Scripture

We believe that the Bible is not merely a human document but is also the Word of God, inspired by Him.

  • 2 Timothy 3:16: “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.”
  • 2 Peter 1:20-21: “Knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone’s own interpretation. For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.”
The True God

We believe in the existence of one true God, who is the creator and sustainer of all things. This belief distinguishes Christian monotheism from other religious beliefs.

  • Deuteronomy 6:4: “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.”
  • Isaiah 43:10-11: “You are my witnesses,” declares the Lord, “and my servant whom I have chosen, that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he. Before me no god was formed, nor shall there be any after me. I, I am the Lord, and besides me there is no savior.”
  • John 17:3: “And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.”
  • 1 Corinthians 8:6: “yet for us there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things and for whom we exist, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things and through whom we exist.”
the Trinity

God is one Being who exists eternally in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Though the word “Trinity” is not found in the Bible, the concept is inferred from passages of scripture such as the examples below.

  • Matthew 28:19: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”
  • 2 Corinthians 13:14: “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.”
  • John 1:1: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
the virgin birth

We believe that Jesus was conceived in the womb of his mother Mary by the Holy Spirit, without a human father.

  • Matthew 1:23: “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel (which means, God with us).”
  • Luke 1:34-35: “And Mary said to the angel, ‘How will this be, since I am a virgin?’ And the angel answered her, ‘The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy—the Son of God.’”
the Resurrection of Jesus

The resurrection of Jesus is central to our beliefs, affirming Jesus’ victory over sin and death.

  • Matthew 28:6: “He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay.”
  • Luke 24:6-7: “He is not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee, that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and on the third day rise.”
  • 1 Corinthians 15:3-4: “For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures.”
Salvation by Grace through Faith Alone

Salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ alone, not through any works or merits of our own.

  • Ephesians 2:8-9: “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”
  • Romans 3:22-24: “The righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction: for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.”
